Project Title: NEET Young People Audio Documentary Project
Platform: YouTube Mini-Documentary1. Purpose of the Study
This study aims to capture the unfiltered, real-world experiences and perspectives of young people aged 18–24 who are currently Not in Education, Employment, or Training (NEET). Mainstream culture frequently overlooks the economic truths and job market challenges faced by today's youth. Shenidan Voices is producing a documentary project consisting of a main YouTube video alongside shorter, focused video clips to provide a dedicated, anonymous platform for these vital insights, fostering a more authentic public discussion about today's economy. The final videos will focus on the most prominent overarching themes identified from the collective recordings (which may include angles such as gender differences, regional divides, or educational backgrounds) and will feature overlaid animation and/or footage to accompany the audio, alongside potential narration from a member of Shenidan Voices. While editing will be used to remove accidental identifying information or to group similar themes together, we guarantee that your words will never be edited out of context or altered to change their original meaning. Shenidan Voices is fully committed to maintaining the integrity, intent, and truth of your shared experiences.2. What Participation Involves
Participation is entirely voluntary, remote, and designed to take less than 10 minutes:
Anonymized Setup: You create a secure, randomized Participant ID (e.g., BluePanda123) to ensure your real identity is completely hidden.
Audio Interview: You will review a short set of prompt questions on our webpage and record your natural spoken responses directly into your phone or computer microphone (maximum length: 5 minutes). No video is captured. Please ensure you do not reveal names, place names, names of employers, or possible identifying information in your audio message. If you do, our team will edit these parts out of your audio message.
Compensation: Upon submitting your recording, you will be directed to a separate, disconnected link to enter your email or mobile number for a prize draw to win one of ten £5 Amazon vouchers. These will be sent directly from Amazon and Shenidan Voices will not be notifying which participants have been successful or unsuccessful in the draw.3. Data Protection & Privacy Procedure
We will enforce these strict confidentiality protocols:
Complete Separation of Data: Your contact details for the prize draw are collected via a completely independent form. They are never linked, cross-referenced, or stored alongside your audio file or Participant ID. Your answers remain 100% anonymous.
Voice Alteration Option: To guarantee anonymity, you can choose on your consent form to have your raw audio file digitally altered (pitch-shifted) before editing, ensuring your natural voice cannot be recognised.
Secure Storage: All submitted recordings and consent tokens are hosted on encrypted cloud storage environments with restricted access limited strictly to the core production team.
Data Elimination Policy: We enforce a strict deletion timeline. Immediately following the publication and final release of the documentary video and its associated promotional clips, all raw audio submissions, transcripts, and stored contact details will be permanently and securely deleted from all systems.4. Participant Rights
Because your data is immediately anonymised via your custom Participant ID and stored separately from contact details, your privacy is heavily protected. You have the right to decline answering any specific prompt question during the recording.
